Save the European ban on cruel cosmetics
Our revelations about Avon's animal testing have provoked outrage across the world. We have a great opportunity to apply maximum pressure to Avon to stop their cruelty. But we'll need to fight hard to seize this chance, which comes in the form of a European law that is supposed to bring in a ban next year (March 2013) on the sale of animal-tested cosmetics. If this ban comes into force it will create a huge incentive for companies like Avon, Procter & Gamble, L'Oreal etc. to stop testing on animals, as they would be prevented from selling products containing animal-tested ingredients in the world's richest market.
However, as you can imagine, these big businesses are using every trick in the book to postpone this ban, despite huge public support for it. So a really important task that you could do now is to write to your Members of the European Parliament to ask them to defend the proposed sales ban.
I've put together a sample letter to help you contact them, which you can download from here.
You can find out who your MEPs are by visiting www.writetothem.com. Please personalise your letter as identical letters are rejected.
