TwiggyTWIGGY AND OLAY

UPDATE: See Twiggy betrays defenceless animals

As you may have read in the media Twiggy has this week signed up as ‘the face’ of Procter & Gamble’s (P&G’s) Olay brand.

You may also be aware that in recent years Twiggy has endorsed various animal protection campaigns including Uncaged’s boycott of Herbal Essences (also a P&G brand).

Uncaged have written to Twiggy to explain the hypocrisy involved in simultaneously promoting our boycott of P&G and becoming the new face of Olay. Our guess is that she has no idea who tests on animals and who doesn’t and that she doesn’t realise what kind of company she is promoting.

Having said that we realise that she will be earning a lot of money from P&G and is unlikely to change her mind and end the contract with them, so we are in the process of removing Twiggy’s endorsements from our websites and we will be redesigning and reprinting our boycott leaflets.

We want to point out that at no point was Twiggy under any kind of contract with Uncaged and that we have no control over her actions, obviously she did not contact us before she the made the decision to promote P&G and so we had no opportunity to dissuade her.

Twiggy’s decision to promote P&G is very disappointing after all the support she has given to various animal causes over recent years.
