Historic 1.5 million-strong petition calls for road map to end animal experiments
At 12.30pm on Thursday 2nd July 2009 Uncaged will submit a historic 1.5 million strong petition to 10 Downing Street calling on the UK Government to work in Europe to develop a ‘road map’ to make animal experimentation history. Protection and the European Parliament Elections
The recent votes on a new EU law on animal experiments have provided
the ultimate test of MEPs' and the parties' commitment to animal protection.
All voters in Great Britain will have the chance to cast a vote for a
party in elections to the European Parliament on June 4. Please
use this wisely to give animals a better chance in the next five years,
and show MEPs that there is a political cost to condemning animals to

Cosmopolitan ignore animal testing
In a recent survey, 67% of women said they “would switch from using a particular line of cosmetic or toiletry products if I found out that they had been tested on animals”.... However, factors such as poor product labelling and corporate control of the media mean that many people are unaware of which products are tested on animals, and end up paying for animal cruelty. Sheffield students target P&G at graduate fair
Last week, students at the Sheffield Universities Careers Fair confronted Procter & Gamble about their animal testing. Members of Sheffield Animal Friends (SAF) unfurled a banner in front of the company's stall, reading 'Procter & Gamble poison animals'. They also gave out leaflets to students, informing them about the cruelty behind P&G's corporate facade. Click here to read on.

MP SLAMS HERBAL ESSENCES OVER 'MISLEADING' CLAIMS
Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock is urging consumers to boycott Herbal Essences, following Uncaged's exposure of the cruel animal experiments performed for the shampoo. The revelation that 'Hurtful Essences' poison and kill pregnant animals and their unborn babies continues to inspire widespread revulsion at the brand, firing optimism that pressure will force them to stop animal testing. Last week, we stepped up our relentless campaign against Herbal Essences' animal testing with two more successful events in Sheffield and, for the first time, in the historic city of York.

Hurtful Essences Campaign Hits the North!
The Hurtful Essences tour recently headed north to the Midlands and North of England, including the launch of a huge new Boycott Herbal Essences push in Sheffield. Meanwhile, a big congratulations to Uncaged Campaigns Coordinator Max Newton, who has successfully completed the Nottingham marathon in 2 hours 58 minutes and is set to raise over £2400 for the campaign.

New figures show official indifference to animal test cruelty
The annual Home Office statistics for vivisection have revealed an appalling rise in animal experimentation during 2007. It is the sixth yearly increase in succession and the highest figures since 1991. In 2007, 3,201,581 million experiments took place in British labs, an increase of 189,500 (6%) on 2006.
